Finding a career after leaving JWs

i find myself with no college degree and a secretary at 25 years old.

i know i can't stay here for the rest of my life.

so i'm trying to figure out what i could do to get myself on a path actually leading somewhere.

Have you considered an aptitude test? My
impression regarding your post is that
you still have a measure of uncertainty
in which direction you want to go.

First, I would start with the Benjamin
Franklin technique and list all of your
experiences, skills, education and know
how on a sheet of paper ( fold the paper
into columns).

Second, list all of the pro's and con's
of each job, skill and experience that
you ever had and start making notes
on what you liked or did not like
to get to know yourself better.

You have college credits which is a
big plus, so you may want to consider
finishing your degree as well.

The Wave: A short movie about mind control

this is a very good short movie about how mind control works.

it's based on a true story of a high school teacher that started his own cultish student organization modeled after the nazis.

it's very easy to see the parallels with jws.

Dear Journey:

Thank you for the reminder, I had seen this
movie more than 20 years ago and vaguely re-
member some of it.

It showed how easily a respected authority can
control or convince the masses (students)
by controlling their behavior.

Unfortunately, I was one of the individuals who
believed that such a thing "could not happen to
me."

Today, I use my own critical thinking skills to
prevent falling into that "group think" mode
again.

Recalling my days as a Jehovah’s Witness I recall the Watchtower Society or Jehovah’s
Witnesses explaining away the phenomena of unidentified flying objects as something
originating from Satan and the demons.

What Do You Think?

Having spent some time researching the matter has led me to a different conclusion then
what was prescribed from the Watchtower Society. However, so I do not influence
anyone’s perspective on the matter, what do you think regarding UFO’s, are they
fact or fiction?

i was talking with a coworker today about the iraq war.

she is furious about bush's invasion and occupation of another sovereign nation, and much more so over what she sees as the murders of the civilians involved.. with the same set of facts available to both of us, i found our dissimilar reactions to it interesting.

i am amused by it, and she's outraged.. we discussed why that might be the case.

Regarding your question I find myself in the middle
ground area of participant or observer. If protests
could be regulated in a peaceful manner without dire
consequences then I am all for it.

The fear I have is becoming involved in some radical
protest and being arrested for expressing my views
on whatever matter.

When a question like this is asked, I ask myself
would things have been different, say, in Germany
had individuals been more proactive during the
late 1920's and early 1930's?

A discussion with my friend about Adolf Hitler led me along the lines
of a different perspective. History will show Hitler to be a “monster,”
concerning his radical “master race” ideologies and the atrocities he
perpetrated on Europe and the rest of the world.

However, it still leaves the question whether something good can come out of something evil.

Advances In Science, Technology And Medicine

Sadly, human advances in the disciplines of science, technology and medicine
correlate with warfare. I am not a proponent of war; however, a question that
I have been pondering over recently has been can something good come out of
something evil?

What is your perspective on the matter?

i have always been mildly interested in modern german history.

but, like most jdubs, other than an occasional article in a newpaper or magazine, or a hurried reading of historical texts, i never took the time.

[there was always more preaching to do, more meetings to attend, more kingdom halls to clean].

Mein Kampf is on its way. You should receive it
by this Saturday. Apart from his radical "master
race" ideology which I find to be disagreeable.
I do, however, appreciate his artwork.

I still think that if he were allowed to pursue
his love of art it may have changed the course
of history ... but who knows?

OUTLAWS Nature Channel

as most of you know i live in the wilderness..my ranch house has a nice big front window.so it`s like a giant tv screen tuned to the nature channel.....right now i have a beautiful deer in front of it.shes a gold colour with bits of yellow in her coat,and a white tail and bum.she`s grazing peacefully,flicking her tail now and again.chewing on fiberous desert plants that will soon be burned off by the desert sun next month..when that happens she will eat hay left out for the cattle..or..graze on plants that have been shaded by the abundant pine trees here.....behind her some 50ft away,are a family of groundhogs.all standing like little soldiers,by the caves and tunnels they have dug for thier home..i left peanuts in the shell,out for them.they didn`t know what to do with them..lol!

!..so i opened a few and left a few in the shell..it took me a few days..but..i taught the groundhogs how to get the peanut out of the shell..lol!

!.....there`s a hawk that lives here.he`s in charge of groundhog population control,now that "squirrell eat`n dawg" is gone.....oop`s!..

Dear Outlaw:

Nice description of the events taking place right
outside your window. Florida used to have so much
beautiful wildlife, but with so much development
taking place it is sad to say, that much of it
ends up as road kill.
